but I didn’t. Now that Naomi has seen the opera, she spends a lot of her time singing VERY high notes…loudly. This can be a bit hard on the ears if she’s singing in a small, enclosed space such as the bathroom. She used to do some of her loudest and highest singing when everyone was in the bathroom as the kids were brushing and flossing and getting ready for bed. Not a recipe for happiness, unfortunately. I feel something like an ogre when I request that she sing not quite so high, but I also don’t want to sustain ear damage. I’ve explained to her that outside or in large areas, it’s not a problem, and she seems to be moderating herself accordingly.
It’s not always too loud or too high, though. She often makes up songs about her life as she goes about her day. And she made up a play that she did for Michael’s birthday that involved dancing and singing and was really cute.
She’s also working on her vibrato off and on.
